Dang Syllabus

Teaching Qualifications & Diplomas

The Dang Theatre and Dance Syllabus not only focuses on children’s graded exams, but also provides accessible and affordable opportunities to gain recognised teaching qualifications in theatre and dance subjects.

Overview

Since the pandemic, the Dang syllabus has recognised that there is much-needed change to the training of specialist teachers in dance and theatre arts. Our portfolio currently includes a Level 3 Diploma aimed at Student Teachers and a Level 4 Teaching Diploma with the option to focus on Musical Theatre, Classical Ballet, Jazz, Street and Commercial, Contemporary or Tap.

Our Level 4 Performance Diploma is aimed at students who are studying at a more intensive level and allows students to specialise in Dance or Musical Theatre.  The diploma is currently offered on several full-time vocational colleges.

Our Level 3 and 4 teaching qualifications are delivered in-house via online platforms and face-to-face tuition for the practical units.  These are tailored to be flexible and accessible for people who are working.  The Level 4 Performance Diploma is currently offered at several-full-time vocational colleges.

RSL Level 4 Diploma in Theatre Arts: Performance Pathway (The Dang) 610/0356/6.

Level 4 qualifications do not attract UCAS points, however some universities will recognise these qualifications in your application. You will need to contact them directly to discuss the application process that can differ amongst each institution.

Entry Requirements

The Level 4 Diploma expects that candidates will have sufficient experience and technical knowledge to achieve the necessary requirements of the qualification. Candidates for the Performance pathway should have achieved a level 3 graded solo examination prior to entering. However, colleges who have an audition process prior to accepting students will have sufficiently assessed their suitability prior to studying for the qualification and therefore do not need to have studied the graded qualifications.
